We were stuck on the Canajohaire wall for 3 extra days because of high water in the canal. They didn’t want to stress the lock walls, and there was a bunch of debris floating in the river. So we toured the Beechnut museum. R Arkell preserved a lot of history about how they played piano music for the workers, and had collections of paintings on the wall, and actual health care for them at the factory. They still have a factory in Florida. Bruce cleaned the bilge and did other chores while we waited for the locks to open. Then June 22nd they opened. We started our day at 2pm and safely made it through locks 14,15,and 16 , to the City of Little Falls at lock wall 17. 18 miles and 3 locks. Windy and my hands are tired from holding the ropes. Will need our generator tonight. June 23rd we made it through 4 locks 17,18,19,20, 36 miles. We tied to the free Bellamy wall and walked downtown for ice cream. There was an old Fort there but hadn’t read about it until later. June 24th we proceeded through locks 21 and 22. Very nice and easier going down 25 feet in each of the locks. We started early and were able to cross Lake Onieda and get to Winter Harbor Marina in Brewerton. Almost 40 miles . The Oswego Canal is next, but it is closed due to the high water levels. We are here with about 20 other looper boats and they are planning a potluck tonight. The marina is having a meal for the loopers on Thursday. We have to miss it because we are flying home for Scotty and Tara’s wedding and for my sister Dianne and her husband Bob’s 50th wedding Anniversary. The boat will be pulled out of the water for a bottom paint job and New zincs. The zincs sacrifice themselves and protect the metal on our boat. So we are flying out of Syracuse New York on the 27th and will be back on July 16th.
