Ottowa to Peoria

Fog delayed the start of our trip to Peoria IL. For a couple hours.   It took us an hour or so to get to the Starved Rock Lock. Very smooth, hardly any wait this time.  An 18 foot drop.  CALM WATERS, WARM WEATHER AND 2 other looper boats with us made for a nice day. Eagles, great blue herons, some sand hill cranes, egrets and jumping carpet followed us down the IL River. Winding through we met many tugs pulling barges and fishing boats and the American Queen paddle boat. Goose and Peoria Lake are so shallow that we had to follow marked channels through them. It’s amazing that those barges get through. Then it was docktales, there were 6 other Loopers here.  We met up with cousin  Larry and Julie Kotewa for Dinner.  Thank you much for the Wine and dinner and great company!
